An album for scrapbooking is pretty much essential, BUT depending on the situation NOT always necessary either.

If you currently do not have a photo album that you can use to start your scrapbooking with, not to worry. There is a way that you can still acquire one. 

First of all, if you are in a country where there are what you call Dollar Stores, where everything in the store costs only 1 dollar, and even as low as 50 cents, make your way over to your local dollar store and buy an album.

If the country that you are currently living in does not have Dollar Stores, you can still acquire something very similar to a photo album. In the photo below it will show you what you may use instead.

Binders and lined school paper books are excellent alternatives for using as scrapbooking albums if you do not currently have any albums. Lined paper books are also called 'Ruled Paper Books' by the way.

During these times of financial hardship, for many around the world these alternatives are especially valuable due to just how much cheaper they are in price than what albums normally cost at any point in time.

So, if you cannot acquire an album right now, just get yourself over to a store and buy a lined paper school book instead. Also remember, that if you have access to dollar stores, make sure to buy either your albums or lined school paper books there first. You will be saving a little bit more money by making your purchases there than in regular stores.

Here is an example of what how a scrapbook layout can look when using a regular paper from a notebook. As you can see that it is not a lined paper but a grid paper. I find it to look rather interesting. The grids add to the creativity of your layout.
