Support Small Business Tuesdays | Ronnie's Cakes

Hello everyone, Nancy here. Welcome to another Support Small Business Tuesdays.

Today, I would like to introduce to you the business of another good friend of mine Ronnie. Ronnie is currently living in Uganda in the capital city of Kampala.

Ronnie began a small baking business in 2021. And with the help of a friend named Travin (female friend), he was able to learn how to bake cakes and cupcakes. In that time, Ronnie has been able to sell a few cakes however, due to lockdowns that were set into place shortly after, he had to shut down his new baking business almost as quickly as he opened it.

Below is picture of Ronnie baking a cake – a big one! It also happened to be one of his first orders.

Looks delicious doesn't it? Yes, I too would agree. Yyyuumm! The client who requested the cake thought the same thing too, Ronnie can assure you.

YUMMY!

CHARITY

To give you a brief history on Ronnie: Ronnie is an orphan who was raised by his Maternal Grandmother. She went to Heaven around 7 years ago and would have been 107 years old today. We know she has been watching Ronnie the entire time since she graduated to Heaven. And she is surely very proud of him right now.

Ronnie is actively involved in charitable work. Every year, he partners with AMKA. An organization currently located in Kampala who helps to clothe and feed homeless children.

AMKA arranges a Christmas dinner for the children every year. They also donate many thick comforters to families who are in need of them for the cold and chilly winter nights.

CHURCH

Twice a month Ronnie and a few others assist the Pastor from the church he is currently attending to feed homeless children out on the streets of Kampala.

Below you will see a series of photos from both the AMKA and the church charitable events. I have included little arrows so that you will be easily able to identify where Ronnie is within each photo. The Pastor has been pointed out for you as well.

TEACHING MARKETABLE SKILLS & SELF EMPLOYMENT

In the photo above Ronnie was teaching a few high school students farming.

Three years ago, Ronnie started an immersive farmer training program. His main goal is to help graduating high school students who do not have the funding to continue on to university, learn farming as a business. All this was possible with the help of Ronnie's Aunt who gladly allowed him to use a portion of her land in order to carry out the program.

In that time, Ronnie and the students were able to grow a good harvest of several vegetables of which included tomatoes. They sold them at a local market, and Ronnie divided the sales amongst the students in the program.

Now that you have gotten a better chance to know Ronnie, I would ask that you please help to spread the news about his baking business by sharing this page with your family and friends.

If you are currently living in Kampala, or know someone who is living there at this time. Or if you are planning a trip to Kampala, I ask that you please help support Ronnie's baking business by purchasing a cake or cupcakes from him.
