What Can You Learn From Scrapbooking?

So you want to know what you can learn from scrapbooking? You can learn about a talent that you never knew that you had before you ever started scrapbooking. That talent being how you can put together stories using pictures on any particular happening or event that took place in your life.

You will also learn to appreciate and value the moments that you capture through scrapbooking in a more meaningful way.

You are capturing moments of special times and making them come to life through photo–story–telling.

You will also soon learn just how much fun scrapbooking really is. Actually, it is a very therapeutic activity to be doing. You are pouring your heart out onto a canvas by telling a story through your cherished photos. A canvas that you will be able to enjoy with whomever you choose to show them to and for the rest of your life.

COST OF SCRAPBOOKING

Originally, scrapbooking always was AND STILL is a super cheap craft or activity or hobby to do.

However, in today's world of scrapbooking there are hundreds of all kinds of fancy tools that have since been introduced into the world of scrapbooking. These tools are expensive and mostly out of the reach of the average scrapbooker. Therefore, they really are NOT necessary in order to create a scrapbooking project that is just as nice as if though you used one or more of those tools to make it. All you need are the basic materials for scrapbooking and they are as follows:

A photo album
A ruled paper binder book (a ruled paper book binder is a good substitute for a photo album in case purchasing an album is too expensive for you at this time, or in the case you cannot access a photo album in stores in your area.)
Adhesive or tape. You need an adhesive like glue or tape for attaching your photos and any decorations onto your ruled lined paper book. And although photo albums already come with a sticky surface on each page, you will still be needing an adhesive or tape for attaching any decorations onto the pages.
Your photographs
Craft paper also known as construction paper (it comes in many colours). You may also want to buy background paper if you wish. Background paper is also known as wallpaper.
A pen

The dollar store has all kinds of fancy adhesive tapes. You will find tapes similar to the ones seen in the image above depending on the dollar store(s) in your area. Choose from shiny, mat (the dried look), metalic, patterned or plain for your projects it's all up to you.

And so now you can see that all of these materials are relatively pretty cheap. The most that you'll end up spending in all these items together is around $25.00.

However, if the country of where you are currently living in has stores called Dollar Stores where everything is sold for one dollar, and where in some cases certain items are only 50 cents, your total cost will be even far less than $25.00. And of course if you have any pens lying around then your cost will be a bit lesser then your total cost at the end.

And lastly are your photos. This is probably the most that you will be investing in although it doesn't have to be a lot either. You simply only print out the photos that you want to use for your scrapbooking project, and the rest you store in either your phone or computer.

SCRAPBOOKING THEMED IMAGES

Scrapbooking also involves adding in cartoon images onto your project that relate to the overall theme of your story. An example of cartoon images for scrapbooking appears below.

And now for an example. If you are putting together a photo story of a family reunion that you attended, you can use images such as food, graduation caps, or baby–themed items in order to reflect the discussions and happenings of that special day.

You may also use real life photos that were not taken personally by yourself with your camera, but that you cut out from a magazine that you had lying around.

Also, know that the cartoon and real life images may not necessarily have anything to do with the theme of your photo story either.

For example, you may be putting together a photo story of a trip that you took just like the one at the very top of this page. And although the images that you used like the hearts, flowers, and trees did not directly relate to the actual theme of the story, you still added them in as this gave your story a more fun and whimsical flare to its overall look. And so this was yet another thing that you just learned from scarpbooking. Did you see how much fun that was!
